"Arms raised up" 9x12 quick pose female nude sketch in pastel

approx. 9 x 12 inches pastel and panpastel on Canson paper
This is another quick pose from live draw in Venice, poses like this have to be quick since the model can't really hold the arms too long like this, so the general gesture of the figure should be captured very quickly, like that's not already enough to deal with, the model was lit with multiple light sources and I was just beginning to tackle that challenge and it was all over.

"Bisping" Ufc fighting 7x9 mixed martial arts sketch

approx. 7 x 9 inches pastel and panpastel on Canford paper
Another sketch concentrated more on the movement, I tried to emphasize particularly the moment of impact, I used a lighter grey toned Canford paper on this one.

Wanderlei Silva Ufc fighter body in motion drawing

approx. 6 x 8 inches pastel and panpastel on Canson paper
My goal here was to show the tension of the body and the anatomical structure while in motion, the fight science behind this is that the body is tense only for a split of a second once it hits the target, then its loose again getting ready for another strike, this allows for fluidity of movement and recharges the energy of the body by being relaxed instead of using all of the reserves to be rigid.

"Reconnection" Plein air female nude in landscape pastel

approx. 6 x 8 inches pastel and panpastel on Canson paper
Sometimes I start these pastels with a brief vine charcoal line indications, then just follow up either with hard pastels or maybe some pan pastel to get a sense for volume, the soft pastel comes later once I have an idea where exactly it will go since it spreads on paper quickly and its harder to control.

"Zen" 8x10 Original Art Asian girl portrait charcoal drawing

approx. 8 x 10 inches vine charcoal on Strathmore Artist paper

Most times I want my drawings to project a certain idea or a feeling, for me the face is a great way to depict an emotion since its human and its easier to relate to, therefore a piece of art should communicate with the viewer directly, just like an interaction between two human beings.

Jon Jones Ufc fighter mixed martial art drawing for sale

approx. 6 x 8 inches pastel and panpastel on Canson paper
What I always look for when I'm drawing is values, they are the most important thing after having a correct drawing, the values are interrelated, each value is important to the one next to it and so on...its like a puzzle that you're truing to put together and make it all work in the end.
