"The package" pastel drawing/painting with a male figure

6" x 8.5" pastel with charcoal on paper
Sold
The facial expression is everything in this piece since it carries the whole drawing, it's not always easy to get an emotion translated on the paper, in this case I wanted to say that there's something going on in the mind of this traveler, like he's too consumed within himself to actually pay attention to anything else but his own little universe and his 'bag of thoughts'.

"Sunrise" Original female nude study charcoal drawing

6.5" x 8.5" charcoal on paper
Sold
This one was done mostly with a 6B charcoal pencil since I need it to achieve those ultimate darks in the drawing, the vine charcoal is dark but not dark enough and it wipes away real easy so sometimes I spray the drawing in between so I doesn't go away by accident:)

"Chepren, the living Horus" Original Egyptian sculpture Art charcoal drawing

7" x 8.5" charcoal on paper

view available artwork
I've always been fascinated with Egyptian Art and its mythology, this drawing was based on the supreme statue of Chepren, one of the great masterpieces of art, it represents the image of the ideal man and of God incarnate in man.
Behind his head there is a falcon that embraces the head of the king, this falcon is the God Horus, as you can see I've only included a part of his head in the drawing, maybe I'll do another with the full rendering of the original sculpture.

Red dress - female figure pastel drawing/painting - Figurative artwork

7" x 8.5" charcoal on paper
Sold
Most of the drawing here was handled with vine charcoal and an almost used up charcoal brick, the red dress was done with a Rembrandt soft pastel.

"Dawn" female nude study pastel drawing/painting

7" x 8.5" pastel on paper
Sold
The figure here was lit by two light sources, one of them was warm daylight and the other a cooler difused light, they produce an interesting effect when combined plus I wanted to get a sense of anticipation from the model and the light helped with that since she's looking in the direction of the bright sun light.

Girl reading a book - original charcoal drawing on paper

7" x 9.5" charcoal on paper
Sold
This was started as a sketch recently but after some time I thought it needed a little bit more work especially on the values, the subject was lit mostly in close values so I thought I'd push the contrast to get more intensity and volume, after a few additions, I'm quite pleased with the end result.

The vase pose - female nude pastel drawing/painting

6" x 8.5" pastel on paper
Sold
I've done a couple of charcoals in a similar pose before but this time I used hard pastels mostly with some vine charcoal in the background, I like poses like this that suggest objects with a lot of curves and its just really pleasant to look at something that's very soft by design:)
